V-Day is coming!

Posted By askgail on February 7th, 2010

One of every 3 women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime.  Visit Eve Ensler’s VDAY site to learn what you can do to stop violence against women and girls.  Attend a V-Day production of  “The Vagina Monologues.”  Donate the money you would spend on Valentine’s Day gifts or dinner to helping stop violence against women and girls wherever it occurs—around the world or right in your neighborhood.

Posted By askgail on June 1st, 2009

Whether it is me (and it was), or you, or someone you know, 1 of every 6 women in the United States has been the victim of sexual violence. Writing today in the New York Times, Nicholas Kristof alerts us to a web initiative to call attention to the global issue of sexual violence.  In many war-torn countries,  rape is used as a weapon; it has only recently been declared a “crime against humanity” by the world Court.   Click here to read about “Silence is the Enemy” and to find out what you can do to help stop mass rape.

An important “first alerter” and ongoing advocate for women is Eve Ensler.   Click here to explore the Global Movement to End violence Against Women and Girls.
